I can now say I've officially kicked my diet coke habit--it's been over 2 months since I've had it, don't miss it! Over the past 6 months I've also kicked the bottled water habit. In the effort to be more environmentally conscious I bought a few more non-disposable BPA free water bottles and now I just refill those. :)
The "Bad"
Why I tempt my sugar addiction I don't know. I consciously made a decision to eat a small amount of sugar, forgetting (denial?) that I have a problem with sugar, especially recently.
The "Ugly"
It triggered an all out binge where I baked and ate sugar, cookies, chocolate all week long. It made me feel terrible and so disappointed. I can control that first bite, but after that my brain chemistry is so sensitive to sugar that I can't stop. Lesson learned. AGAIN.
The "Good"
Today is a new day, I'm feeling good, back to exercise and SUGAR-FREE!
THANK YOU for your openness and honesty! Whenever someone shares the pain of not being able to stop for sugar once they start it reminds me why I do not eat sugar. When there is so much of that STUFF out there, like at this time of year, it is so hard to stay away but I am trudging along because it is even worse for me if take that first bite.
ReplyDeleteYou wrote: I can control the first bite." But then your experience and next sentence show you cannot. Did you mean to say you can think you can control the first bite?
For today, I know the only thing I control is not taking the first bite. After that, God help me.
It is great to see you posting again.

Thanks Jane. I meant that I could consciously decide to take the first bite knowing that afterwards I could be dealing with an uncontrollable binge...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on staying away from sugar! Merry Christmas :)
Sandrelle, that is a great definition of controlling the first bite. Love it.

I am glad to see I am not the only one with a sugar addiction! I have done the SAME THING and then felt yucky! I've even gotten so sick that it's brought me down for a few days. It is that addiction, and I just need to stay away from sugar!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my post. I would LOVE to meet up with you some time and ride one of your horses. That would be like a dream. Maybe sometime in 2012?
Happy new Year!
